I have been on the hunt for defenitions to add to my Encyclopedia and I ended up spending some time on the Crossroads IRC network.

I have noticed some obvious diffirences between terms in diffirent parts of the therian scene and parallel devolopment which is basically wasting of energy due to poor interscene communication.

I was talking to a few there, who seemed to think that only the elders in the therian scene should be allowed to put up defenitions and they thought something as open as a Wiki Encyclopedia was doing more bad than good.

Now while I can understand that you would not want your geniunie newbie rewriting the defenition of "Therianthropy", but the Wiki system has also prooved itself in that it is really not that bad and that defenitions usually end up suitable.

The therian scenes in general have this big problem that each thinks the others aren't as real therians as their own is, I'm trying to bridge that via something of an encyclopedia and site with links (the werelist managed a lot in that area, but an obvious example of elitism: WereNet is pretty locked up in their very subjective oppinions still and there's noone trying to get the right information around). The result of this is that everybody is making a brand new website for whatever aspect of therianthropy, then covers up to 20% of it then gives up. (I'll admit to having done something quite simmilar for the moment, but hey I'm not dead yet! :wink: )

The problem with that is that the point isn't reached. Therians searching out for infromation don't get what they need, the level of dissinformation is high, and people who know nothing about therianthropy get confused enough to default to the new age and hollywood representations.

Would somebody please help me up?  :)
