Hello, This may be more suitable in the SPAM board, but it's not as bad as the other SPAM there so... Basically I've been observing the corelation between the number of downloads recorded on a website such as for example ModPlug and the actual number of download requests on a server. That is, I have put up a little web server since I have ADSL and am hosting my music on my own disk space. The server is a simplistic little system running NOS and this I mention to point out it creates convenient logs to help keep track of activity, while it provides no other means of remote administration. I have been reviewing the logs every few days ever since I've had it and I could also keep track of the number of downloads for my tracks hosted. What I found out is that while ModPlug records just over 600 downloads for my file, the webserver logs indicate a download every 4 to 11 hours ever since the song's release date on 2004-09-18. Now the numbers don't exactly add up and I will mention only ModPlug has the direct link to this particular file. Any ideas what could be causing the diffirence and how reliable the number of downloads from websites would be to estimate song popularity on? I would also like to have a good way to tell which of the songs was liked and which not, considering I get feedback from like 3 people out of 500 if I'm lucky... Ideas?
