Well, just to say. Ok I agree that Windows is $$$ and sometimes quite naughty, but there are reasons to use it. If you'd install enough additional software, like MS-Office, Visual Basic, Plus, etc you'd notice a huge boost in usability. Ok, linux can be upgraded and optimized, but notice that Windows is just the same (ofcourse only if the user can use the "Add/Remove programs" part of windows). If you excuse the neat exceptions when two independend software packages are actualy dependend, you can find windows costumizable to a quite great extent. The problem I see with linux is that there is nowhere to start, while windows takes you trough an easy to understand installation, so 1. you can learn it's system (that is shared troughout the OS) very quickly and 2. you can start using the computer immediately. I don't know if Linux can do this, but Windows is very good when it comes to doing something for the real world. File type conversions are quick, usable and self-contained (E.g.: Word to PowerPoint). Practical applications can be made within seconds, with only a cupple of clicks and copies in Visual Basic. Not to mention the great capability of the software (everything from spell-checkers to the so called "Wizards"). I'm not telling anyone to stop using Linux now, but rather informing the missinformed. Windows IS one of the best OSs around! Better than switching to another OS that other people tell you is good, just learn how to use yours. ...And quite frankly said, companies don't care if they have to install the Visual Basic debugers to their systems, to make them work better; they just do it... -- Don't feel bad about asking/telling me anything, I will always gladly reply.
