Well, with a > system which tell you the exact distance to the objective, using some maths > I can get the exact calibration. I remember this issue form the logs of a military devoloper: When they were introduced to the workshop they were told that an officer would walk into the room from time to time, making a useless comment or two that should be ignored. Well they were devoloping the aiming system for a tank all on their way, when the officer walked into the room looking at the plans and saying "and what if sensors are not exactly on the source of the projectile"? The comment turned the research upside down! They realized this important little detail and had to seriously change the design of the system... The French tank solves the problem, with a lense at the end of the cannon (looks real ugly and fragile). For example, the new Slovenian prototype T55-S, has all the required electronics for the trick instead. Anyway, I thought you were speaking of the automatic clip-on to the target. Well, I, a known expert for relative offset, =] have came up with a fly-eye soluton: Have 5 distance meters, one aimed a bit to the left, one in the center, one to the right, one up and one down. The data gotten from all 5 is compared and if the most radical reading is from the left one, the cannon should move to the left, etc. This makes it easy for a person to lock the cannon on a specific object, regardless of how small it is. > Well, I've thought about laser weapons -getting your own laser is, really, > very simple. Once we get togather, we will probably be hired by some millitary institution to do the devolopment work. =] > I once made some research in order to know about the plasma's possibilities > of turning into a weapon... I'll have to learn more... =] Nah, plasma (heated hidrogen) is really hard to obtain and it's destructive power (besides the fact that it can be a nuclear weapon), is equal to about any other substance when that hot, not to mention it's a bit orid to use as a weapon, considering it's a gas... It's only serious use is as inflatable solar sails for spacecraft using magnetic fields. I've had more interest on unlimited-ammo weapons lately. Basicaly, any object traveling fast enough is good to be deadly. My first idea was using the Russian superconducter magnetic engine to pick up about any material and project it at the target at a high velocity. Later on I was thinking that water could be sucked up and frozen in mid-flight (giving it the perfect aerodinamic shape of a falling drop) and then projecting it towards the target. I of course keep my love for nuclear powersources, because they practicaly last forever once fuelled. These weapons are supposed to be on-building defenses, so size dosen't really matter. > >I was thinking about giving an attachable device such a weapon, > > That remembers me of my integrated multi-sensor systems...
