Does your religion include an emphasis on symbols?

As to save SQL-space EDIT: To me symbolism was always a very interesting area. Symbols like the moon, a common point of refference for everybody; meaningless on it's own yet can be a universal connection... 

I have pursued symbolism in the poems I wrote, etc, explored what it offerred and always found it as something utterly esthetical. I have explored ideas such as to build temples, monuments around symbols reffering to things important in life and their relation to genuine happines.

In all this I've percieved the symbolism as a kind of perfect tool in maximum information density, which is somewhat of an ideal to me, and self-refferencing symbols as paradoxial fenomenas in language snytax, in itself symbolizing infinity, fractality and perfection, all of which of extreme beauty...

Well I may sound poetic but... I suppose actual religions out there observe symbols in a simmilar manner? I'm extreemely interested.
