Hello, I have been trying to put this question togather for some time, but each time I started it the debate wandered off random places. I have been looking trough old myths and comparting them a bit (plainly amateur) and suppose it is possible to put togather a comprehensive overview of therian (were) history. That is we all know the old myths, we know how they colerate. We know that they're not true and we know what medical problems the details in them are probably based on. But on the other paw, there is no doubt to the point that wereisms aren't a modern invention and that there must have always been people who liked the point of relating to themselves as what would have been beasts to others and there isn't a shred of doubt in my mind that this sparked the peasants immagination to start writing silly stories. Has anyone ever considered we could analize these stories and instead of looking for reasons why the farmers interpreted rabies as a wereness sign (etc), look for who might have gotten them to write this. I think since therians never had any better reason to write about themselves more than other people, that our history might be hiding within these myths and farry-tales and I think it should be a very meaningfull thing to try to extract this history from the myths. After all it is our history and having it extracted might bring more sense to our being as right now 99.99% of the world's inteligence is still 100% that therians are nothing but a mix of farmer immagination and new-age fanatics. Comments? This thread is related to the "Therian history" one in some points and ideas, but I made them appart for a reason so please don't mix 'em too much. The idea is that a certian lot of fairry-tales about werewolves seem to indicate that werewolves can reproduce by turning other people into werewolves. }:} Now while it is clear to me that this "could only be rabbies" from the scientific point of view, it also allows the possibility that a part of it is actually true. Could it be that historical werewolves actually managed to reproduce in this manner somehow? That there were whole clans who would live gloriously in the past... that we might have a legacy greater than, well, rabbies? Anyway, I am considering. I am a werewolf there is no doubt in my mind about that and it's not because I would have made up my mind into believing that, but because wolf is natural to me and I am a wolf in my heart. I meet people who are absolutely not that, even if they would try to immagine they are, they just fail terribly while at it. But sometimes I end up with a bunch of fellows who learn diffirently, to them the discovery of the animality alows them to ease their mind and they feel more made for the animal form than the human one that's been taught to them so far. It leaves me wondering... sometimes there will be a kid who will shamelessly and based solely on inpulse lick my chin after I give him a little bellyrub and other such things. It feels so good to see them do that and yet there is this sense that this can't be so, that I must have leaked that to them in some way, etc. There's always this element of doubt that these things could be true, but at the same time there is raw hate at such a feeling because it's the same feeling as humans gave me, trying to convince me to act human when it wasn't one bit natural to me and painfull even. ...The idea of getting back to our old werewolf legacy, to have a clan to love your kind and harness a beast within... hehe... it's not bad at all. I am after all, an ex-skeptic. I try to blast my beliefs back to stoneage and think it all over, again and again, testing every detail with as much scientific method as possible. Implementation would be one, I know it's not done with biting, I realize it may be possible to do it psychologically and it's not easy. But should I succeed I will be the only modern werewolf to be able to live up to our glorious legacy? Skeptics' eye tells me there's a trick in here somewhere. Comments?
Does any therian have a belief based on the state of their being a therian? Can you give any info on the spritual practice and philosophy of it all?
To me, personally, I have a little special belief. I believe in reincarnation and the moon is my god. I like going out on a foggy full moon night because the level of brightness is most suitable for me then and it makes me feel good, it lets me get more relaxed, let's me feel more light in my running trough the woods and it helps me clear my mind. I feel the moon is protecting me because on the times of no moon, bad things tend to happen to me and my werewolf friends. It is also in sound with the old werewolf legacy, which I also sort of believe in, but this is a skeptics' view still (I am more testing it than believing it). But this is only my belief... it is related to my wereside, but it is not bound to it and I wouldn't want to enforce it on others. :)
