I work on software to increase the ability of a computer to use other computers in a network. The finnal idea would be to allow a user or program to use a network of computers as one computer. For example a server using processing power of other servers or a user using the hardware of a graphical work-station somwhere on the internet.

This type of software was found to be very welcome when the required hardware resources are not there. By decentralizing data storing and processing, we reduce the need for highly capable servers or databases and since Artificial Intelligence programs usualy need a lot of processing power *and* data storage space, this is a near perfect solution.

Why would we have a huge database on one server when we can spread the data over thousands of user PCs? Sure that if any of the PCs cannot be accessed, the database is smaller, but isn't that better than loosing the entire database when the server fails?

Can you imagine the combined processing power of *all* idle LAN (or better) Internet connected computers? Millions of PCs, plenty of huge servers with unused capacities + a cupple of super-computers at diffirent institutions. This is what I work for to let You use.
