Hello Neil,

For Copyprotection the ICSA will have to:

(1) While copyprotection is not yet really supported only: Recieve an

order and send a response to the Console when done. The recieved command

will be "Copyprotect [secret code]" where the ICSA needs to answer to

the console with the secret code*!

(2) Once copyprotection is to be fully supported: Read a list of files,

delete it, then write back with to the file the functions that passed

the test. The file is FileLoc's "CopyProtecton information exchange

file".

[*] = The secret code includes two 6-digit hexadecimal strings that are

random generated on the run based on the system timer, so that the 'evil

hackers' cannot simply send a message to the Console instead of the ICSA

when they have everything ready.

The problem here is that there might be applications that do not have

copyprotection for one reason or another! There we need a signal that

trully comes from the application, that it's copyprotection is supposed

to be disabled and it shouldn't be checked, but it must be one that we

can freely tell all about to other programers, that will be making these

for their own fun.

An option again is to use a procedure which is to be too complicated for

the average 'hackers' nerves and typing speed (which is the case of the

secert code*) and so I am thinking of a secret code message that gets

send to the Console from the function, to which the Console responds

with that + another random secret code, which the function (only if the

first secret code is the one it sent) would respond to by sending back

the Console's random generated secret code and the Console would

understand that as a command to disable the copyprotection. I am also

thinking of adding various ICI system databank details into the secret

code, so that the 'hackers' would have an easier time making the

function on their own than making a program that simulates a

copyprotected program to prevent it's code from getting copyprotected.

I was just wondering: What is your oppinion of this? I'm sure you have a

better alternative in mind.

C'ya!
