Hello Neil,

I'm back.

I have come accross one of those little AI story things, how is another

question. Anyway, it's an AI car and a passenger over some rough

terrain. The two carry a nice discussion over their slow progress over

the 'road', the passenger complains over the bumbiness of the ride and

the AI car answers "Well theoreticaly speaking the slower we go, the

less impact will the rocks on the road have". "True" says the passenger.

The car thinks a bit "therefore we could be standing completely still

and the rocks on the road wouldn't bother us at all". The passenger

gives the comment a thought (in this time, the AI car is standing still)

and then gives a rather annoyed response of "Well we can't stay still!

After all, you were designed to move passangers around. Come on move!".

The AI car continues it's slow progression over the rocks and says: "But

I thought safety was the first priority!".

The only problem with real sofware on that part is that the programers

actualy notice when they're trying to code up something that conflicts

with the very idea of making it in the first place... Which might be why

we are encountering problems working on how to make our NLU programs...

This might be the only actual problem solved with philosophy as far as

history is concerned.

C'ya!
